Jarrah Scouts
Terms
What you may do with the archive, what happens to something you send it, and a plain statement that nothing here is sold.
Last updated 24 September 2026
In short
The archive is free to read and free to contribute to. Nothing is sold and no payment is taken, so there is nothing to refund.
Sending an event gives the archive permission to publish it. You keep everything you own in it.
Send only what is yours to send, and only what is true as far as you know.
Using the archive
Read it, link to it, and quote it with a credit to the Jarrah Scouts heritage archive. It exists to be used.
For a school project, an article or a piece of research, take what you need and say where it came from. If a photograph carries its own credit, carry that too.
Do not scrape it in a way that degrades it for other people, and do not republish it as though the archive were yours.
Nothing is sold here
There is no shop on this site, no price, no membership fee and no donation form. No payment is taken and no card number is ever asked for.
So there is nothing on this site to refund. If that ever changes, the terms for it will be written on the page where the money is asked for, before it is asked for.
What you send
By submitting an event you confirm that the story and the photographs are yours to share, or that you have the permission of whoever they belong to.
You keep the copyright in a photograph you took. You give the archive permission to publish it here, and to keep publishing it, with the credit you gave.
Ask for something back and we take it down. What has already been quoted elsewhere by somebody else is beyond our reach, which is a reason to think before sending rather than a reason not to.
Accuracy
Every record is reviewed before it is published, and reviewing is not the same as verifying. Memory across ninety years is imperfect and the archive would be poorer if it accepted only what could be proved.
A date or a place may be approximate, and where the group knows it is unsure, the record says so rather than picking a confident answer.
If something here is wrong, tell us. A correction from somebody who was there is worth more than anything else we have.
What is not allowed
Submitting an event that did not happen, a photograph that is not yours, or anything meant to embarrass a person.
Using the submission form for advertising, for a message to the group, or for anything that is not a record of an event.
Attacking the site or attempting to reach the review console.
What we do not promise
The archive is provided as it is, and it is built by volunteers. It may be offline, a record may be incomplete, and a submission may take a while to be reviewed.
To the extent the law allows we are not liable for indirect loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Lebanese law, and the courts of Beirut have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top moves when they do.
